Job Title:
Maintenance Workers

Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

  • Daily site inspection. Cleans & Maintains grounds, offices, cubicles, bathrooms, and public areas of the building as assigned.
  • Back-up of Porter's duties as required.
  • Performs routine maintenance and minor/general repairs for the structure, fixtures, grounds and equipment. This includes painting, carpentry, minor plumbing and other building maintenance as needed.
  • Organizes, maintains and tracks custodial supply and coffee service inventories.
  • Work with repair people, vendors and technicians to complete and expedite projects.
  • Ensures cleanliness of loading dock, outside garbage containers and yard.
  • Blow down steam boiler. Inspect Mechanical Room (heating system, sewage pumps) and Kitchen area for safety and cleanliness.
  • On-call for emergencies and inclement weather conditions.
  • Responsible for snow removal.

Requirements:

  • Must be available for occasional off hours work.
  • Must be able to meet physical demands of the position including occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 70 pounds.

Job Summary:
Responsible for the writing, preparation and submission of proposals, applications, reports, budgets and other written materials for foundations and corporations. Handles proposal follow up and cultivation activities. Responsible for research and identification of new prospects and tracking of corporate and foundation giving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write, proofread and submit persuasive proposals, informative reports and other documents. Work with Finance Department to prepare budgets for proposals and reports.
  • Research and recommend potential sources of corporate and foundation funding for HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illness programs.
  • Cultivate and steward a portfolio of current and potential funders by maintaining adequate contact.
  • Track and analyze foundation and corporate giving.
    " Work closely with program staff to identify funding potential for programmatic initiatives and possible pilot programs within context of organization's strategic plan.
  • Schedule and coordinate agency site visits with foundation and corporate representatives. Participate in events and cultivation activities as needed.

Education/Experience/Licensure:
Bachelors degree from a four year accredited university, with a minimum of three years training/experience in grant writing and fundraising.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong writing skills and ability to compose compelling proposals, letters and other documents.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exits.
  • Ability to prioritize activities and organize duties and assignments.
  • Proficiency in Raiser's Edge, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to clearly communicate the organization's program, mission and funding needs.

Client Services Intake Specialist

Responsibilities:
  • Assess and register all potential and current clients for the Meal Program
  • Monitor and track adherence to established guidelines for client eligibility
  • Adhere to HIV confidentiality laws of New York and New Jersey in all interactions with, and about potential and active clients. Must adhere to prevailing confidentiality laws that impact individuals with serious illness other than HIV/AIDS
  • Monitor and conduct client follow-up on active clients including restarts, cancellations, implementation of services, discontinuations and other delivery related issues
  • Verify all information with clients' medical practitioners and/or service providers. Maintain daily contact with practitioners regarding changes in client status and meal program eligibility
  • Record pertinent delivery and client information in client services database
  • Refer ineligible clients to appropriate service organizations
  • Represent agency at workshops and meetings
  • Participate in educational opportunities regarding HIV/AIDS and other serious illnesses

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Social Worker background preferred
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal, written & interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus
  • Must work well within a team environment

Job Purpose
Prepares, cooks and packages food for the Meal Program, follows sanitation protocols established for the kitchen, must be able to cross-train and learn other Kitchen positions as determined by the Head Chef.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares, cooks and packages food and soup for the Meal Program
  • Supervises volunteers throughout all phases of the meal preparation and packaging process.
  • Ensures proper and efficient food and soup preparation techniques and strict adherence to established food safety guidelines.
  • Maintains cleanliness and working order of Kitchen utensils.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Pack-Out Coordinator

Manager of Delivery Operations

Job Summary:
Organizes and oversees activities to ensure the safe distribution and packing of meal components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as back up driver, as needed
  • Organizes and coordinates meal pack out, as directed by department management
  • Distributes meal items, special items (emergency meal boxes, grocery bags, etc.) and client documentation (intake packets, menus, flyers, etc.)
  • Monitors packing, in compliance with established food safety standards
  • Enforces food safety regulations
  • Inspects products prior to packing and wrapping and places unsafe or damaged products aside to dispose of, or return to the kitchen
  • Regularly audits frozen/chilled and hot inventory to maintain accurate and up to date information so that we may project needs and analyze trends
  • Organizes delivery area after drivers leave; ensures safety and cleanliness of delivery staging areas and materials, including walk-ins and heating cabinets
  • Takes weekly inventory of all delivery equipment (shopping bags, paper towels, windshield washer fluid, anti-freeze, etc.), and orders these items, as needed
  • Assists in developing and maintaining new systems for monitoring and coordinating the inventory and distribution of frozen/chilled meals
  • Generates daily delivery paperwork, as needed
  • Assists Supervisor of Delivery Operations in vehicle/equipment maintenance and cleaning.
  • Supports Manager of Delivery Operations as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Education/Experience/Licensure:

  • High School or Equivalent
  • 3 years of driving experience in the tri-state area
  • Basic area knowledge of 5 boroughs and Hudson County
  • Excellent mapping ability
  • Valid NY/NJ Drivers License (No DUI/DWI convictions)

Skills and Abilities

  • Language Skills - Knowledge of English, preferably proficient in a second language
  • Communication Skills - Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form
  • Computer Skills- Experience with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Access, Outlook
  • Basic Math Skills


Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds unassisted and 100 pounds with assistance. Must perform well in a fast-moving, pressure-filled work environment.
